Copycat

It's always fun to watch the Harbour Seals at Fisherman's Wharf greeting the tourists and sharing some sashimi. However, I was surprised to see this year that another harbour resident has learned about the free fish - that's a River Otter popping up there to see what the tourists have to offer.

JoJo, when I was posting this photo I was wracking my brain for a nice pun on "otter" for the title. Your "otterly" is just what I was looking for.

The wharf is a great place for food, fotos and fun.

The otter I have a picture of, was otterly piggy and totally cleaned out the nice big gold fish I had growing in my garden pond. So, I hope he is living down there now!

I love the banner on your blog. Very Victorian.etarjri

Too cool! And if you hold the herring up high enough, seagulls will join in, swooping down to grab it out of your hand.
The seals will even do tricks, spinning around when prompted.
A couple years ago, a pod of transient Orcas were spotted swimming past this point approaching the Johnson Street Bridge. It is possible they were following seals.
How cool would it be if they ended up being next looking for handouts at Fisherman's Wharf? Hmm, not likely, but if any seals are seen jumping out onto the docks, it would be an indication of seeking refuge from their predators, not just a better chance at a meal.
