Mystery Plant

Determined to capture a little more of the precocious spring we are having I ventured into Beacon Hill Park again yesterday and came across these lovely blooms. Once again I hope visitors here can help me with some information about this plant since I haven't a clue what it is. In the park there are lots of crocuses now, more rhododendrons, snowdrops, grape hyacinths and I even saw a few daffodils, I'll post over the next few days.

I think it is a variety of hellebore. It is the season for them. They come is a wide range of varieties and colours, so I don't know the specific variety name.

@Old Stone: I think you're right when I google Hellebore it looks like the same plant and the season is right. Thanks!

This looks just like the helleborus argutifolius illustrated in my Sunset Western Garden book. (from Kay, soon to be a Sequim "neighbor.")

I can hardly help with identification, hopeless with plants. I just want to thank you for the spring image, it feels so good!

I think we are about a month and a half ahead of our normal spring season!
