Happy New Year!

Our snow is pretty much gone now but we are still having gray days and lots of rain and sleet. I like this photo because of the way the snow defines the mountains on the Olympic Peninsula (across the Strait of Juan de Fuca).

This is so geographically descriptive of where Victoria is in the world - just lovely. It looks like a Samoyed dog is just the right breed for the place too.

May the year to come bring you joy.

Great photo - I love the way the mountains look these days - they some how appear closer?

Thanks all for your greetings and comments.

Jabba, yes, those mountains do appear to approach and recede depending on atmospheric conditions but part of their largeness in this photo is because of the telephoto lens compression (70mm in this case).

Happy New Year! Or maybe Merry New Year, to differentiate myself from the crowd...

Yet another great shot. You'll have a struggle matching these heights through '09... :)

The mountains look as though they've been sketched in by a seriously talented artist!

I hope you have a fantastic 2009!

I love your photos of landscapes. When I make a picture like this, I fail to fill all of what I'm looking for.
Happy 2009.

What a beautiful photo. I love the snow-capped mountains in the background and the colorful buildings and boats on the shore.

Beautiful color, and interestingly composed into three "worlds."
